The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics aims to combine high quality sports with a wide audience, and be a driving force for social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
Hi, my name is Ricky Peace; I’m a volunteer for Special Olympics Cleveland County. I, my wife and a group of volunteers puts on a bass fishing tournament once a year to benefit this organization. 100% of all entry fees, raffle ticket sales from items donated, donations received for food served at the event and sponsor donations go to this organization. We’re a 501 (c) (3) organization therefor your donation is tax deductible.
This is our 18th year of doing this event. We have raised $515,423.48 over the past fifteen years because of some 250 plus dedicated sponsors like you. We’ve never asked for a given amount in the way of a donation we just ask that you give as you feel led to. Your business or your personal name which ever you choose will be added to our growing sponsors list which appears along with the check presentation picture each year in the paper and on our website. Please prayerfully consider joining us this year to make a difference in the lives of many both young and old in our community.
Thanks and God Bless,
There is never a charge for any athlete to compete in local, area, regional or state competitions. All expenses are raised through grant writing and supporters like your-self in our community to operate our local program.
We currently operate on about a $50,000.00 budget yearly. This covers the cost of uniforms, equipment, travel and numerous other items that are needed for the games to take place.
Thank you for your commitment to the athletes of our local community.
